Island Bait & Tackle is a family-run fishing company based in Alameda, California. We’re full-time commercial fishermen, local lure-makers, and passionate advocates for sustainable seafood. We spend our days on the water, doing what we love—fishing hard and staying connected to the ocean. Every trip is different, and that’s what keeps it exciting. Whether we’re offshore or close to home, we work with the seasons and let the water guide us. When we're back at home we are hand-tying rigs, pouring jigs, and helping our community catch more fish.
Steph was born and raised in The Bay Area; Chong was born in American Samoa and eventually made his way to The Bay. We've both spent our lives on the water. Fishing isn't just what we do—it’s how we live.
We got our start together casting nets and fishing off jetties and piers in Texas. When we returned to California, we fished the Delta, where landing a 46-inch sturgeon got us hooked on fishing. In 2020, we bought our first vessel, a Sea-Doo Fish Pro. After plenty of trial, error, and fishless mornings, we found our rhythm halibut fishing in the Bay. That love for the chase led us to upgrade to a 17-foot Crestliner with a Mercury SeaPro 115, now proudly known as the SeaDog.
We started Island Bait & Tackle with a simple mission:
Catch responsibly. Share locally. Get out there.
We sell what we catch—wild, fresh seafood straight from our boat, and gear we trust because we use it ourselves. Whether you're a weekend angler, seasoned deckhand, or just looking for the freshest fish in the Bay, you’re in the right place.
